Think of a time when a speaker or storyteller held you spellbound. Did the person use vivid examples or a compelling tone or voice? Write a paragraph describing what you found so fascinating.
I'm usually interested in what a speaker is talking about when they're talking about something that interests me. However, if they introduce information in an entertaining way i'll watch them regardless. Unfortunately there hasn't been many times where my attentions' been grabbed. Yesterday's presentations were fun to look at, but some of the speakers were too quiet.
I can't remember the last time somebody actually got my attentiont to that level. Maybe when I was much younger with less on my mind. Nowadaze I have much more on my mind so I find it harder to give my full attention to anything anymore. As a young kid I was much more amazed by new things that I hadn't seen or heard of before. Now Sometimes I feel like I've seen it all done it all before.
I don't remember when I was spellbound by a story teller or speech but I am currently reading a book that I feel I have to read at all costs and get to the ending and actually it might change my course of my future I think depending on the ending. I am actually planning to do research into what the main character started getting into. I am completely amazed by the phenomenon that occurs in the book. What is even more impressive is that it is supposed to be a true story like true diary entries of someone that actually went through this nightmarish, fascinating, eye opening, amazing experience that is both horrific and beautiful at the same time.
I guess when people speak very energetically and seem to know what they are talking about and giving details that are important. When they are speaking and giving pictures in my mind of what they are talking to or what they want. That's when I feel captivated in what they say.
There are people who has accents and deep and light voices. What catches my attention is when they people who has a accent of a french person or Hispanic, even old-fashion English person. Like you guys said that people have there way to speak. I'm kinda stuck about what else to say about someone that has a different tone, accent, and there voice.
A time when someone had me "spellbound" was when I went to the Jingle Ball concert in 2009 with a friend of mine ( I think it was 2009). Jordin Sparks was performing and I was amazed by her voice and somewhat of the lyrics to the song she was singing. I usually pay attention to the lyrics of a song, but also try to pay attention to the artists voice. But overall I was "spellbound" by her voice and lyrics of the song.
- Story telling ! Back in middle school i don't remember much about it . I know i just enjoyed it . He had some songs going on during the story telling . He had us do hand beats with him .
During winter break, I read almost a whole 8 book series. It was a REALLY good series and there was a lot of suspense and creepiness. It was one of those books that you just don't want to put down. One thing I did and didn't like was that there were many cliffhangers. At the end of each book there was a cliffhanger, even in the last book.
I don't have anything else to say so yeah....Hi.... Yesenia is borrowing a book to me right now. It's call "Go Ask Alice". She read it and said it was really good and I really need a book to read because I don't really have any right now so IT BETTER BE GOOD YESENIA!!!!!!! 5 minutes seems like forever when you have nothing to talk about. Ummmm.....ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ I don't know what to say Mr. Jarman!!!!
When a speaker gets my attention its when they acted it out to show what they are talking about. When they changed their tone of voice when they are acting like someone.A speaker gets my attention when they make me laugh and talk about a subject or thing I like to hear about.A speaker that I like when we they are not afraid to be free.
Yes yesterday Robin held me spellbound the way he was acting, and talking really kept my attention he just had so much excitement so therefore I'm going to have the same intentions. I think when sombody is very loud, and happy that makes me pay attention more then somebody who is quiet and boring. I think Robin is very good at presentation point blank period. ARIANA WARREN
I can't really remember a time when a speaker had me spellbound. i guess a speaker would get my attention if he was loud and enthusiastic about what he was saying.
One time I was reading this book, and it really made me think of the person I want to be. Like, while I'm in high school and during my adult hood. It made me be more mature and be thankful for what I have in life, Like loving parents and siblings.
A speaker has never held me spell bound. Speakers bore me. They have no intrest to me. I think that need to find a new way to give us info. We just saw nick cannon outside. Everyone was screaming.... it was not the big of a deal. If eminem was outside, i would not be inside, i would be outside and I would act cool (as much as possible). Nick Cannon not that big of deal. Eminem yes, Nick no. Americas got talent is going to be across the street. Yay, really exciting. I know. I do want to present. I am listening to Eminem right now, on beats. I'm starving. I dont know what else to write......ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm I dont know. I want school to be over and I want it to be friday. Im bored. Im hungry. Eminem is amazing.
I have never been spellbound by a reader/storyteller. Normally when a person is telling story I don't really listen, because it sounds like a robot talking and then tend to say um or like a lot and it gets a little irritating. I never found it fascinating although it did make me want to go to sleep. I like to read out loud to my self, because I like to make funny/different voices to make reading more fun.
A speaker has to get my attention by there voice. If there voice is to quiet it will not hold my attention. They also have to be interesting or have to be talking about something interesting. IF it is boring it will not hold my attention and i won't pay attention to what he or she is saying.
I've never really been held spellbound by a speaker, I have a very short attention span. It doesn't take much for me to lose focus on someone who is speaking.
it was the persons voice that had me interested in the story an the detail an how they could tell the story an i could picture every detail an all the characters an i seen nick cannon an i'm his number 1 fan! he isn't famous no more but o well he makes money by hosting a show called Americas got talent i think i should be on that show! cause i am talented lol
Speakers get my attention by changing their level of voice and speaking in different tones. It's interesting when I get to hear stuff I've never heard before because then I want to keep listening to find out what's going to happen. When the person makes little actions to explain what's going on then it's also interesting to watch. Speakers can keep me interested by their voice and how they're telling the story. If they don't know what they're talking about then it's hard to pay attention since they have no idea what they're talking about.
When a speaker graves my attention it is usually when they have a variety of pictures, objects, or music to keep me focused in on the conversation. Sometimes I like to listen to artist because they have a way of speaking to their audience.
I haven't ever really been spellbound by any storyteller, or presentation. Mostly because I've never really had many people read me stories. And most people who have done presentations have been not interesting. If you were to interest me, read something twisted and disturbing, in the right level of voice. I hate when people over do dialogue and actions, I hate when people UNDER do them too. Overdone makes one annoying/stupid. Underdone is monotone and boring. I hate to be so picky, but when you are read to it must be captivating otherwise you might as well be reading alone. A lot of times I have done that, teachers would read to the class, but I'd just block them out and read alone. I'd read further and deeper than just listening/following along with someone who reads it like a textbook.
I think that never happen to me because when somebody talk to me for a long time I just blank out. But sometimes i think that the story is interesting or the person voice and how it sound. I really don't pay attention to the story if somebody is reading it to me for a really long time. Sometimes what keep me interested is that when they change their voice.
There was a woman presenter that was really nice looking and when she was talking she kept me interested. Besides the fact of her having a really nice body. The tone of her voice was seemingly pleasant. She spoke with enthusiasm and the way she presented was like she herself was interested in what she was telling us. When she spoke it was direct on the topic and she spoke clearly with great body posture. She gave eye contact and made sure the whole audience could see her and the screen she presented on.
Well I guess the last time I was seriously spell bound was by my grandfather. It was a long time ago, he used to tell me stories. He made them up as he went along but he was telling me about a snake that was invisible to everybody. It lived in the forest, and it would eat people whole. Then he told me how someone tried to defeat it. He asked me how I would do it. I said I would put the snake underwater because the water is also invisible, so then the water would make the snake inverse or something. He said that my idea was pretty good, but the real way to get the snake was to paint it's insides. He said that during the day you needed to paint the night, and during the night you needed to paint the day. The hero of his story enticed the snake to eat him whole by mocking it. The week before he had taken a jar and stole the sun's paint, which it used to make the day. Then he waited until nighttime and took some of the night's paint. When he had finished painting the insides of the snake, he cut his way out and beheaded it. I don't know why I was so enraptured by this story, but I loved it. He also told me about the castle it lived in. I still have vivid images of this invisible snake, and painting it's insides.

I know a person named Jewl. When she was younger her family was sent to a Japanese internment camp in the 1940's. Hearing her story is breathtaking. After she tells you what she's been through, all you can do is just stand there. No word could had describe how disgusted how I felt with the American government in the 40's, and with racist people of America.
The content of what she had to tell me was almost too much to take in. All I could do was sit there and think about how terrible it must of been to have to go through that.
